How it all works

What do I do with my bib number?

Your bib is your ticket for the season. Wear it on the front of your shirt so our timekeepers can see it when you cross the finish line. No visible number means no recorded time — no exceptions. If you ever lose yours, come find a volunteer and we will sort it out.

What happens at the finish line?

A volunteer will hand you a Finish Number as you cross the line. Take it straight to the Scribe Desk — follow the signs for your line. The scribe will record your bib number, your distance, and the start time the timekeeper called when you left the line. Do this before you head off for a post-run swim, or Norm will be sad.

Where do I find my start time (handicap)?

Your start time is on the Handicap Board at the start area. Find your distance and look for your name alphabetically. Handicaps change every week, so check it fresh each Sunday. If you can't find your name, we have a "magic folder" with all the history we need to track you down.

What is the lucky dip draw?

Two $20 cash prizes are drawn every single Sunday. Your Finish Number goes into the draw automatically. You must be present to claim your prize, so stick around after the race. It only takes a few minutes and it is absolutely worth it.

Volunteering

Do I have to volunteer?

There is no obligation, but Sunday mornings only happen because of our wonderful volunteers and we love having extra hands. If you volunteer for a session, you earn 8 points toward the season total and you can still get your run in by arriving a little early. See all the roles at ballinaathletics.club/volunteer.

Can I still run if I volunteer?

Yes. Most volunteer roles only take an hour or so. Arrive a bit early, do your role, then join the run. Your time can still be recorded.
